
The first incident took place in Liaquatpur, where a private boat carrying flood-affected families overturned near Tauheed Basti of Bait Bakhshu Bhatar.
The vessel was heading towards Kothal Hamza when it capsized in strong floodwaters.
Out of 14 passengers, 13 were rescued by locals, but a nine-month-old toddler drowned. Search operations are still underway to recover the child’s body.
In a second mishap, four people drowned in Basti Khalilabad, Jalalpur Pir Wala.
Local residents managed to save one survivor and recover the body of a 15-year-old girl, while the search for two more missing persons continues.
Families in the area expressed anger, claiming they had called Rescue 1122 repeatedly for seven hours, but no team arrived.
Locals said they were forced to conduct rescue operations on their own.
Meanwhile, the rising flood threat triggered a massive overnight evacuation of more than 25,000 people from Jalalpur Pir Wala and surrounding villages.
Authorities, supported by troops, volunteers, and drones, moved residents from high-risk areas to temporary shelters.
Entire villages remain submerged, with emergency supplies and international aid now beginning to arrive.

These incidents highlight the severe risks faced by flood victims in Punjab, where unsafe boats and slow official response continue to put lives at risk.
