No aid has been delivered to the Palestinian enclave since March 2. Cogat, the Israeli military agency that coordinates aid deliveries, claimed that during the truce, some 25,200 trucks entered Gaza, carrying almost 450,000 tons of aid, according to AFP
“That’s nearly a third of the total trucks that entered Gaza during the entire war, in just over a month,” Cogat said in a post on X. “There is enough food for a long period of time, if Hamas lets the civilians have it.”
When asked about the statement, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters: “As far as the UN is concerned, that’s ridiculous … we are at the tail end of our supplies.
“You know, WFP doesn’t close its bakeries for fun. If there’s no flour, if there’s no cooking gas, the bakeries cannot open,” Dujarric added.
Meanwhile, the human rights organisation says that Hungary should arrest the Israeli prime minister when he arrives in the country on Wednesday.
Hungary is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu for war crimes committed in Gaza.
But Hungary’s leader, the right-wing Viktor Orban, has openly defied the arrest warrant and invited Netanyahu to his country.
“Orban’s invitation to Netanyahu is an affront to victims of serious crimes,” said Human Rights Watch’s international justice director, Liz Evenson. “Hungary should comply with its legal obligations as a party to the ICC and arrest Netanyahu if he sets foot in the country.”
