LONDON (Web Desk): Nearly 60 members of parliament from the UK's Labour Party have called on the government to immediately recognize a Palestinian state, in a letter to British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

In the letter, the MPs strongly criticized the Israeli government s plan to forcibly transfer Palestinians to a camp in southern Rafah, saying that the move violates international humanitarian law.

Members warned that Britain s support for a two-state solution would be ineffective if the British government did not recognize a Palestinian state.
