According to international news agencies, Iran launched over 100 drones targeting Israeli territory. Israeli military spokespersons confirmed the drone barrage and claimed that the country s defense systems had intercepted the majority of the threats.
In response to the threat, Israel activated underground emergency operations in hospitals and suspended all flights at Ben Gurion Airport indefinitely, signaling preparations for a broader conflict.

The escalation follows Israel s extensive aerial operation earlier in the week, involving 200 fighter jets that reportedly struck over 100 military and nuclear sites across cities including Tehran, Natanz, Isfahan, Arak, Tabriz, and Kermanshah. Arab media described the campaign as consisting of five separate waves, hitting both military and civilian infrastructure — including nuclear research centers.
The Israeli strikes killed high-ranking Iranian officials, among them Major General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC chief Hossein Salami, and Major General Gholamali Rashid — a devastating loss for Iran’s military leadership. In swift response, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed General Ahmad Vahidi as the new commander of the IRGC and named Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari as acting Chief of Staff.
Two leading Iranian nuclear scientists — Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi and Dr. Fereydoon Abbasi — were also among the dead, raising international concerns over a possible nuclear crisis. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that radiation levels at Iranian facilities remain within safe limits.
In a strong statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned the Israeli offensive as a “blatant breach of the UN Charter” and emphasized Iran’s right to defend itself. “Our armed forces will respond with full strength when necessary,” he warned.
