(Web Desk): BNP wins majority seats in Bangladesh election, paving the way for Tarique Rahman’s leadership and major constitutional reforms.

BNP wins big in Bangladesh election, securing majority seats as early results show sweeping victory and major political shift.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has emerged as the clear winner in Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary elections, according to unofficial and preliminary results still being counted.

So far, BNP and its allied parties have won 209 out of 299 seats, putting them in a strong position to form the next government. Unconfirmed reports say the party, led by prime ministerial candidate Tarique Rahman, secured 151 seats alone. Rahman, son of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, was declared successful from both Dhaka and Bogra constituencies.

According to Bangladeshi media, Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and its allies won 70 seats, while the National Citizen Party Bangladesh managed to secure only 5 seats despite being part of the alliance.

After the early victory signs, Rahman said restoring law and order would be his top priority so citizens feel safe. He also promised special focus on women, who make up nearly half of the country’s population, and vowed to run the country with allied partners. He urged supporters to avoid rallies and celebrations and instead offer prayers.

Meanwhile, Jamaat leader Shafiqur Rahman accused the Election Commission Bangladesh of delays in some constituencies and warned of possible protests after official results.

Alongside the election, a national referendum was also held. Early figures show 73 percent of voters supported reforms, which could reshape Bangladesh’s political and constitutional future.
