According to the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the quake occurred at 1:59 p.m. local time (0159 GMT) at a depth of 51.2 km, approximately 170 km from the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Many residents in the city reported feeling the tremor, news agency said on its official Telegram channel.
Russia s Emergency Situations Ministry in Kamchatka confirmed that the aftershock was felt with an intensity of up to 4 on the local scale in both Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the nearby town of Vilyuchinsk. No tsunami warning was issued following the event.

Videos of inside homes during the earthquake emerged, clearly showing shaking walls, windows and cupboards colliding. Panic spread among citizens, while authorities instructed residents of coastal areas to take precautionary measures.
It should be noted that a tsunami warning was initially issued for Kamchatka and Hawaii. However, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center announced a few hours later that the threat had now passed.
According to Russian authorities, no casualties or property damage were reported from the earthquake. The Kamchatka region is known for its earthquakes and volcanic activity, and has experienced severe earthquakes in the past.
It should be remembered that a strong 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the eastern region of Kamchatka in Russia on Sunday, prompting a tsunami warning.
