The United States has significantly increased its deployment of A-10 attack aircraft in the Middle East, according to a report by The New York Times.
The report stated that the Pentagon has doubled the number of A-10 “Warthog” aircraft in the region and is sending an additional 18 jets to strengthen its military presence. Around a dozen A-10 aircraft are already actively engaged in operations.
US commanders have reportedly used these aircraft to target Iranian boats and allied militia groups in the region. The move comes amid rising tensions and growing security concerns in the Middle East.
The A-10 Warthog is known for its powerful ground-attack capabilities, capable of targeting both land and maritime threats with high precision. It can fire up to 70 rounds per second and is designed to fly at low altitudes and slower speeds, allowing it to remain over targets for extended periods.

Military experts suggest that these aircraft could be used in operations near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, with Iran’s Kharg Island also considered a potential target.
Reports further indicate that the US aircraft are being deployed via bases in United Kingdom before reaching the Middle East. Analysts believe that the increased presence of A-10 jets may signal concerns about the effectiveness of Iran’s air defense systems.
The development highlights a growing military buildup in the region, raising fears of further escalation and potential conflict in the coming weeks.
