Will form govt in Centre, Punjab and KP: Barrister Gohar
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said, “We have the majority and will form the government in Centre, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).”
While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said: “We will announce the names of the chief minister very soon. The people of Punjab are going to get a public chief minister.”
He pointed out, “Today is the most important day of Pakistan’s democracy. We moved towards fresh elections by abolishing three assemblies. With the intervention of the Supreme Court, the elections were decided to be held on February 8. For the last two years, PTI has gone through difficulties.”
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the election commission had assured to provide a level playing field, deploring that fake cases had been registered against the PTI leadership.
“Despite all the difficulties, the struggle for the election continued, and the people exercised their right to vote peacefully on February 8,” he pointed out.
“It was the responsibility of the election commission to announce the results by 2 o’clock in the night. This time the polling time was not extended. Only less than 10 per cent of the results were received by 12 o’clock midnight,” he said.
Barrister Gohar held the election commission responsible for delaying the election results, adding that the polling time was till 5 pm which had not been extended.
“The election commission could not even fulfil its constitutional responsibility. We are currently leading with 170 National Assembly seats. PTI has won 39 out of 45 seats in KP. The two-third majority has been gained in KP,” he stated.
The PTI barrister also claimed that PTI was leading in Punjab with a large number of seats, adding: “I congratulate the entire nation on behalf of Imran Khan. PTI has the majority.”
He said, “I say to the Supreme Court and the election commission that this is the beauty of democracy. People exercise their right to vote to elect the candidates of their choice. People did not boycott the election and exercised their right to vote.”
He stressed that the economy would not be able to bear the suppression of the voice of the people and the installation of a favourite government.
“No obstacle should be placed in the way of PTI, and the election results should be released as soon as possible. The results should be declared before 12 o’clock midnight. Attempts are being made to change our majority. We will have a peaceful protest outside the offices of ROs tomorrow. I request all the workers to protest peacefully. You should have Pakistani flags in your hands,” he stated.
