Three venues finalised for the World Cup 2024
Karachi: (Web Desk) The biggest cricket event of 2024 is set to take place next year. Interestingly, this event will be held in a country that does not have its own national cricket team. The cities of Dallas, Miami, and New York in the United States will host the T20 World Cup 2024 for the first time.
According to the ICC, the selection of venues for the ninth edition of the ICC T20 World Cup was made after a comprehensive evaluation. The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States and the West Indies.
The ICC further states that a cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 34,000 will be constructed at Eisenhauer Park, which is located 30 miles from New York City. An agreement has already been reached for this purpose.
This stadium will serve as a magnet for millions of cricket enthusiasts from various states of the United States, including New York and New Jersey.
The ICC also mentioned that in Dallas, the Grand Prairie and Broward County, Florida, already have the basic infrastructure for hosting matches. However, efforts will be made to increase the seating capacity in these venues.
The ICC has stated that the format of the World Cup in 2024 will be different from the previous two editions. In this format, 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each for the first round.
According to the ICC, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 stage, and from each group, the top two teams will make it to the semi-finals.
Reports suggest that there is a strong possibility of traditional rivals Pakistan and India facing each other in the T20 World Cup 2024, which will begin in India on October 8, 2023, featuring cricket teams from around the world.
