According to the new plan, the platform will move ads, which may be seen as disruptive, to more "natural break points" in videos. Ads that interrupt dialogue or action scenes will be relocated to less intrusive moments, such as pauses or transitions, to enhance the viewer experience.
Moreover, YouTube will update older videos released before February 24, 2025, by automatically adding ad slots at natural break points in videos with manually placed mid-roll ads. Creators can opt out of these updates through YouTube Studio by navigating to the Earn tab.
For creators, this change could lead to higher revenue. YouTube’s test in July 2024 showed that channels with a combination of manual and automatic mid-roll ads saw a 5% increase in ad revenue.
Additionally, YouTube is introducing a new feature called "Feedback in YouTube Studio," which will notify creators if their manually placed ads are disruptive.
