The new update, a part of the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS (version 24.25.10.79), replaces the previous shortcut positioned at the top of the navigation bar.
By moving the shortcut to the Chats tab, WhatsApp aims to enhance accessibility, especially on larger devices where reaching the top of the screen can be inconvenient. The redesigned placement is also intended to encourage more users to explore AI-powered features.
This update allows users to experiment with creative functionalities, such as generating personalized images and other AI-driven content using Meta AI. The new design aligns with a similar approach on the Android app, where the shortcut appears as a floating action button.
Currently, the updated shortcut is available to select beta testers who have installed the latest iOS beta via the TestFlight app. WhatsApp is expected to adjust the feature’s design based on user feedback before a broader rollout in the coming weeks.
