(Web Desk): Spotify has launched a new in-app Messages feature, enabling users to share music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly with friends and family—without leaving the platform.

Available this week on mobile devices in select markets, the feature is accessible to both Free and Premium users aged 16 and older.

Users can share tracks, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks via the Now Playing screen by tapping the share icon and sending to contacts they ve interacted with previously—such as family plan members or collaborators through Jams and Blends.

Conversations are one-on-one, with support for text and emoji reactions. In a dedicated Messages inbox, messages will be stored. You can access them by tapping the profile photo.

Users can accept or reject message requests, block accounts, or disable the feature entirely. Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, and content is monitored using proactive detection and human moderation.

Spotify expects Messages to boost word-of-mouth recommendations, making personal recommendations more organic and effective. For creators, this provides a new, intimate channel to reach audiences through personal sharing is provided to creators through this feature.
