PTA to connect internet to world’s largest cable system for speed boost
LAHORE (Web Desk): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is in the process of connecting Pakistan’s internet infrastructure to the 2Africa Cable.

It is a 45,000 km subsea cable that stands as the largest cable project in the world. This cable will provide 24 terabytes of bandwidth to Pakistan.

As per sources, the process of integration with this new cable system is underway, aiming to significantly boost internet speeds across the country. Led by Meta (Facebook), the 2Africa Cable will link 45,000 kilometers of internet infrastructure to Pakistan, connecting 46 landing stations across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

It is expected that the cable will be operational in Pakistan by 2025. The new cable will provide access to one of the fastest internet services globally. Once active, it will transform internet services in Pakistan, a country currently facing digital restrictions. The project s success hinges on smooth progress without further disruptions, as well as PTA s ongoing commitment to enhancing services for the future.
