State Bank clears air on ‘unsecured’ ATM transactions
KARACHI: (Web Desk) Pakistan has been hit by rumours claiming that transactions through Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are not secured due to a cyberattack.

However, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has dismissed these rumors regarding the security of ATMs in the face of cyberattacks.

Nevertheless, the statement warned the public against suspicious online links. The SBP has asked customers not to share their personal details or bank details with anyone.

It also urged customers of digital banks to sign out of the app or website as soon as they complete their transaction. It also asked them to check their account statements regularly.

The SBP clarified that both the ATM and online banking services are functioning normally and there has been no cyberattack.

The SBP asked people to ignore misleading social media posts and assured that it is working closely with banks and 1Link to maintain the security of the financial system and digital payments.

The SBP warned customers to be vigilant while using ATMs, visiting banks, or conducting online transactions, adding that if any unusual activity is noticed, they should immediately notify the authorities.
