In the latest iOS beta (version 25.21.10.76) via TestFlight, the feature is currently undergoing testing. It is expected to be available to a global audience soon.

How It Works:

In order to initiate a voice conversation with Meta AI, users can tap a waveform icon in the Chats app. Once it is activated, the voice chat interface will allow users to speak naturally with Meta AI. When users speak, Meta AI will respond to them in real-time. For those who prefer automation, there s an option to start voice chats automatically upon opening the Meta AI interface. However, this feature remains turned off by default.

Key Features:

·        Users can choose from a variety of Meta AI voices, such as Aspen and Jade, to personalize their experience.

·        The voice chat window can be collapsed, allowing users to continue their conversation while navigating other apps, such as browsing the web or reading documents.

·        Users can attach photos directly from their camera or gallery to provide visual context to their queries.

·        Users can mute their microphone or end the conversation at any time. On iOS devices, an orange dot appears in the status bar whenever the microphone is active, ensuring transparency.

One interesting thing about this new feature is that unlike other Meta AI features that have been introduced across other Meta-owned platforms, this is the first native real-time voice AI interaction within WhatsApp—meaning WhatsApp is leading the way to making real-time voice chat integration seamless. This also indicates a broader push to make AI more conversational and accessible across Meta’s suite of products.

With wider availability expected soon, WhatsApp users can look forward to a more intuitive and dynamic messaging experience powered by real-time AI voice technology.
