RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, an independent candidate from the National Assembly constituencies NA-47 and NA-48, has alleged that the suspension of the mobile phone service across the country amid polling for the General Election 2024 is the start of rigging.

In his statement on social media platform X, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar says that suspending the contact of candidates with their agents and election machinery is totally unfair.

“Police brutality has also been there for some time. By the time the news comes from somewhere, it will be too late. Elections with bullying and rigging are not acceptable,” he has stated.

The interior ministry says in a statement that it has been decided to temporarily suspend the internet and mobile phone services across the country given the recent terrorist attacks that claimed many lives.

“As a result of the recent incidents of terrorism in the country which claimed the precious lives of many, security measures are indispensable to maintain law and order and deal with possible threats,” it has said.

It is to be noted here that the internet service is facing disruptions despite an assurance by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) that the internet would be available to users on Election Day.

Earlier, the PTA assured that the government would not shut down the internet on Election Day. “The internet facility will be available to users on Election Day. The internet will work without any disruption,” it had said.
