Snooker king Mohammad Asif beats India to win world title

(Web Desk): Mohammad Asif, known as the king of Pakistan snooker, has secured the sixth world title of his career by winning the IBSF World Masters Snooker Championship held in Bahrain.

In a thrilling final, Asif defeated India’s Brijesh Damani by 4-3 in a nail-biting contest. The Pakistan-India face-off proved to be a dramatic battle, with each frame fiercely contested right to the end.

Asif initially gained a 2-frame lead, but Damani made a strong comeback by winning three consecutive frames, putting Asif at a 3-2 disadvantage. However, showing great resilience, Asif made a comeback to level the match at 3-3, and then went on to win the decisive final frame.

The frame scores were, 98-37, 75-55, 00-80, 49-52, 41-64, 91-29, and 78-9.

Prior to this win, Mohammad Asif had already claimed two World Team Championships and three Individual World Snooker titles, solidifying his legacy as one of Pakistan’s greatest snooker players.

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, extended heartfelt congratulations to Mohammad Asif for winning the IBSF World Masters Snooker Championship 2025.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised Asif’s brilliant performance, stating, “By defeating his Indian opponent in the final, Mohammad Asif has brought glory to the national flag.” He further added that Asif’s skill, determination and resilience have made the entire nation proud.

Naqvi emphasized that whether in sports or any other field, Pakistan continues to shine on all fronts. He also expressed hope that this streak of success will continue with the efforts of talented young Pakistanis.
