LAHORE (Web Desk): Former Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan has refused to sign the new central contract, asking the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to explain why he was removed from the national T20 squad.

According to sources, Rizwan has not yet signed the contract offered by the PCB and has placed several conditions before doing so. His main demand is that the board should clearly state the reason for excluding him from the T20 team.

PCB officials confirmed that all other centrally contracted players have already signed their agreements. The board had offered contracts to 30 players in total.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were placed in Category B for the 2024–2025 central contracts, while no player was included in Category A this time.

Earlier, the PCB had replaced Rizwan with Shaheen Shah Afridi as the ODI team captain. Rizwan last led the national side in August 2025 during the series against the West Indies, where Pakistan lost a home ODI series to the Caribbean team for the first time since 1991.

Rizwan’s firm stance has added tension between him and the PCB. His refusal to sign the contract until receiving answers shows growing unease among senior players. Fans are backing Rizwan’s demand for transparency, while the PCB faces pressure to justify its selection choices. The coming days will reveal whether dialogue or disagreement shapes Pakistan’s cricket leadership future.
