Lahore Qalandars, two-time champion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) appointed West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite as their captain for the much-anticipated Global Super League (GSL) 2024, scheduled to be held in Guyana.
Carlos Brathwaite expressed enthusiasm, saying he has the advantage of familiarity with the playing conditions in Guyana.
“It is an absolute honor to lead the Lahore Qalandars. I have built incredible relationships within this team, and I’m ready to take on this challenge,” Brathwaite said, adding that having familiarity with the conditions in Guyana, he was optimistic about delivering series of strong performance and make our mark in the tournament.
The owner of the franchise, Sameen Rana, also expressed optimism regarding Brathwaite’s appointment.
“Carlos has been a vital part of the Qalandars family. His extensive knowledge of the local playing conditions, combined with his rapport with the team, makes him the ideal choice to lead us in this historic tournament,” he said.
In addition to Qalandars, the tournament will also feature three-time Vitality Blast champions Hampshire Hawks, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team Guyana Amazon Warriors, Rangpur Riders from Bangladesh, and Victoria from Australia.
The opening session will be played in Guyana’s Providence Stadium from November 26 to December 6. The Qalandars will lock horns with Guyana Amazon Warriors in the first match.
