LAHORE (Web Desk): Afghanistan legspinner Rashid Khan has been added to the MI Emirates squad, replacing England all-rounder Jordan Thompson, who is out for the rest of the ILT20 season due to injury.

Rashid is no stranger to the MI brand. He captains MI Cape Town in SA20 and led them to their first-ever title this year, defeating Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

He has also represented MI New York in Major League Cricket during 2023 and 2024 but opted out of this season. Rashid played two matches for MI Emirates in 2023, taking four wickets.

However, Rashid will not play the entire ILT20 season, which runs until January 4, 2026. He is expected to stay with MI Emirates only until December 20 before heading to South Africa for SA20 2025-26.

MI Emirates, the defending ILT20 champions from 2024, will face Gulf Giants in their season opener in Dubai on December 4.

Led by Kieron Pollard this season, MI Emirates has reached the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. The current season began on December 2, with Desert Vipers beating last year’s champions, Dubai Capitals.
