LAHORE (Web Desk): The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced to add two new teams in the squad, increasing teams from six to eight.

The development about PSL new teams was confirmed by PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer during a media talk at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.

He revealed that the tender process for the new teams will begin in November, allowing investors to select from a designated pool of city names.

“An auction will be held for two new PSL franchises. Interested bidders will choose from a list of city names provided by the PCB,” Naseer stated.

He added that discussions are underway to expand the league’s presence across more cities in Pakistan.

While PSL matches are currently hosted in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, the PCB is working to include additional venues as well.

“We are seriously considering hosting PSL 11 across six venues. Peshawar’s Imran Khan Stadium requires only minor upgrades and will be ready soon,” Naseer said.

“Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium is also being prepared, and matches have already been scheduled there ahead of PSL 11.”

Naseer emphasized that the goal is to ensure every franchise gets to play true home games, something that has not always been possible in past seasons. “There is strong interest in the two new teams, and we are expecting healthy competition among bidders,” he added.

At present, the PSL features six franchises, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans. The addition of two more teams will mark the league’s first major expansion since Multan Sultans joined in 2017.
