LAHORE (Web Desk): Pakistan Under-19 Asia Cup champions received a hero’s welcome from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and were honored with a cash prize after their historic win over India in the U19 Asia Cup 2025.

Pakistan defended a huge target of 348 runs and bowled India out for just 156 in 26.2 overs. The massive 191-run victory highlighted Pakistan’s strength in both batting and bowling.

On Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a special lunch for the team. He personally congratulated the players and officials for their outstanding achievement on the Asian stage.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and several federal ministers were also present at the event. During the ceremony, the PM announced a cash prize of Rs 10,000,000 for each player to recognize their exceptional performance.

Former national captain and Pakistan U19 mentor Sarfaraz Ahmed confirmed the announcement and praised the squad’s effort. “The PM has announced a reward of Rs 10,000,000 for each player, and in the future, these young players will make the country proud,” he said.

Sarfaraz also highlighted key performances in the final. Ahmed Hussain scored a brave 56 off 72 balls, while Sameer Minhas played a match-winning knock of 172 off 113 balls, smashing 17 fours and nine sixes.

Pakistan U19 head coach Shahid Anwar shed light on the preparation behind the success. He said a talent hunt began on June 17, with seventy players going through trials and multiple matches before the final squad was selected.

The final ten-day camp in Karachi included guidance from former cricketers, helping polish the team’s skills. “Our goal upon leaving the country was clear: to win the trophy and, more importantly, to win the hearts of cricket fans,” Anwar said
