As per a media report, Jay Shah will likely to travel to Dubai to meet International Cricket council’s (ICC) officials to clear the ambiguity and speculations around Champions Trophy 2025.
The development came after the postponement of much-awaited schedule for Champions trophy 2025.
Earlier, India told ICC about not travelling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy to play tournament. The PCB also stood firm on its stance, reiterating its commitment to not opting ‘hybrid model.’
The report says that BCCI’s Jay shah will likely to tour Dubai, where he will meet ICC’s officials and after that will contact PCB chief Naqvi to break deadlock over the tournament.
Moreover, the broadcasters of the tournament, who were assured a cycle that includes Pakistan-India intimidating matches, which typically have the highest viewership and produce handsome revenue, have also refused to accept a schedule that does not include the blockbuster matches.
Sources further said that the announcement of the schedule would be proclaimed in a couple of days if the stakeholders reach a conclusion after showing some flexibility.
Although clouds of uncertainty are prevailing over the organisation of the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Sumair Ahmad Syed as the chief operating officer of the Champions Trophy.
PCB, in a statement, clarifies that the board would not adopt hybrid model, standing firm on its stance of hosting the tournament entirely in Pakistan.
However, Naqvi expressed confidence in Syed’s abilities, describing him as ‘exceptionally professional.’
“The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 promises to showcase Pakistan s ability to host world-class cricketing events, welcoming players and fans from around the globe to experience the country s passion for the game and renowned hospitality." Syed stated, adding that preparations are already underway as the stadium upgradation is inch closer to completion.
