CAPE TOWN: (Web Desk) Will Pakistan continue their winning streak against the South Africa in today’s One-Day International (ODI) and the remaining third match of the series?

This question arises after South Africa’s first choice spinner Keshav Maharaj was ruled out of today’s ODI between South Africa and Pakistan.

The second ODI between Pakistan and South Africa is currently underway, with the host team’s batting is in progress against the tourists, Pakistan.

Details reveal that in the match being played in Cape Town, South Africa s captain, Temba Bavuma, won the toss and chose to field first, inviting Pakistan to bat.

The Pakistani team includes players such as Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, Salman Agha, Irfan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed.

At the toss, captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed his intent, saying, "We will aim to set a big target for the Proteas and look to win the series."

The South African bowler’s presence is a doubt for the crucial two-test home series against the sub-continent side that starts on Dec. 26, Reuters reported.

Maharaj has a left adductor strain and will miss the 50-over fixtures in Cape Town on Thursday and Johannesburg on Sunday, but of much greater concern will be the 34-year-old’s availability for the test series.

South Africa are top of the World Test Championship table and need victory in one of their two remaining matches against Pakistan to guarantee a place at the Lord’s final in June next year.

Should Maharaj be unavailable, the only specialist spinner in the test squad is the less experienced Senuran Muthusamy. Bjorn Fortuin has been named as his replacement for the final two ODIs.
