Cricket fans across the globe are set for a major treat in 2026 as the World Club Championship returns, bringing together the champion teams of top T20 leagues including Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Indian Premier League (IPL).
The revived event, inspired by the old Champions League T20 (last played in 2015), promises thrilling matches between winners from leagues such as IPL, PSL, Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, and The Hundred. The highlight, however, will be the expected high-voltage clash between Pakistan and India’s top club sides, likely drawing massive attention from fans and media.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are backing the tournament, with ICC Chairman Jay Shah also supporting the initiative. This time, organizers aim for better global representation, commercial success, and fan engagement, making it more competitive and inclusive than its earlier version.
The new format also reflects the changing cricket landscape, with emerging leagues like Major League Cricket (USA) and Global T20 Super League (Guyana) gaining popularity and likely joining the global stage.
Organizers have hinted at future plans, including a women’s edition of the championship, while England will now be represented by The Hundred s winner, instead of the Vitality Blast champion.
