PAK Vs BAN U-19: Bangladesh beat Pakistan, reach Asia Cup final with India

DUBAI: (Web Desk) Bangladesh on Friday defeated Pakistan in the first semi-final clash of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh defeat Pakistan with the help from Iqbal Hossain Emon’s four-wicket haul, followed by skipper Azizul Hakim’s unbeaten half-century.

On 8 December, Bangladesh will face India, who defeated Sri Lanka in the second semi-final, in the U19 Asia Cup final, scheduled at the same venue.

Pakistan U19 remained undefeated in the group stage but were bundled for a 116 while batting first. The meagre target was met by Bangladesh easily in 22.1 overs after losing three wickets.

Bangladesh captain Azizul Hakim delivered a match-winning unbeaten innings of 61 runs off 42 deliveries, adorned with seven boundaries and three sixes. Mohammad Shihab James made a notable contribution with 26 runs off 36 balls. Pakistan s bowling attack was led by Ali Raza, Abdul Subhan, and Naveed Ahmed Khan, who each claimed a wicket.

Earlier, Bangladesh U19 opted to bowl first, and Maruf Mridha vindicated the decision by dismissing Pakistan s openers in quick succession. Pakistan struggled at 7-2 before Muhammad Riazullah and captain Saad Baig stitched a 42-run partnership. However, Iqbal Hossain Emon broke the stand by removing Baig, and later, Riazullah fell to Emon for 28 runs off 62 deliveries.

Farhan Yousaf top-scored for Pakistan with 32 runs off 32 deliveries, featuring one boundary and three sixes. Pakistan ultimately folded for 116 runs in 37 overs.

Emon spearheaded Bangladesh s attack with 4-24, while Mridha took two crucial wickets. Al Fahad and Debasish Deba chipped in with a wicket each.
