Mohammad Amir reaches 400 T20 wickets landmark

(Web Desk): Left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir became the second Pakistani to achieve 400 T20 wickets during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025.

The 33-year-old fast bowler Mohammad Amir, currently playing for Trinbago Knight Riders, achieved a significant milestone during the CPL 2025 match against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound when he dismissed Fabian Allen.

Amir became the second Pakistani bowler to reach 400 wickets in T20 cricket when he dismissed Fabian Allen. He is currently ranked seventh on the all-time list of wicket-takers in the shortest format after reaching the milestone in his 343rd T20 game. He has an economy rate of 7.33 and a bowling average of 22.54 in his T20 career.

Wahab Riaz remains Pakistan s top wicket-taker in T20 cricket with 413 wickets in 348 matches. He holds an economy rate of 7.54 and has three five-wicket hauls to his name.

* Mohammad Amir – 400 wickets in 343 matches

* Sohail Tanvir – 389 wickets in 388 matches

* Imad Wasim – 375 wickets in 405 matches

* Shahid Afridi – 347 wickets in 329 matches

Although Amir excelled individually, his team did not succeed in the game, as the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons claimed an eight-run victory over the Knight Riders.

Batting first, the Falcons scored 167 for 6 in 20 overs, aided by an important 69-run partnership for the sixth wicket involving captain Imad Wasim and Fabian Allen.

Fabian Allen was crucial for the Falcons, sriking a rapid 45 off only 20 balls, featuring three fours and the same number of sixes, providing a late boost to the innings. Captain Imad Wasim provided reliable assistance with a steady 39 from 27 deliveries, hitting one four and two sixes. Jewel Andrew contributed a solid 22 runs off 25 balls, but the other batsmen failed to make a notable difference.

Usman Tariq was the leading bowler for Trinbago Knight Riders, taking 2 wickets while conceding 37 runs. Nathan Edward captured two wickets as well, although he was costly with stats of 2 for 56. Mohammad Amir and Akeal Hosein contributed one wicket each as the Falcons scored 167 for 6 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Knight Riders scored 159 for 6, missing the target by only eight runs. Colin Munro provided a rapid beginning, hitting 44 off only 18 deliveries, featuring eight fours and a six. Kieron Pollard maintained their chances with an unbroken 43 from 28 balls, striking three fours

and four sixes. Keacy Carty contributed 35 from 31 balls, but the middle order couldn t keep up the required pace.

Obed McCoy was the star with the ball for the Falcons, finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 39. He received strong support from Rahkeem Cornwall and Shakib Al Hasan, both of whom picked up two wickets to help secure a narrow win for their side.
