As per media reports, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved the summary prepared by provincial sports department, which proposed the renaming of Arbab Niaz Stadium.

The proposal will now be sent to provincial cabinet to seek its approval.

KP government’s spokesperson, in a statement, confirmed that in addition to the renaming, renovation and beautification work at the stadium is also underway.

"With the approval of the provincial government, significant upgrades are being made to enhance the stadium s infrastructure," the spokesperson stated.

Provincial sports minister Fakhar Jahan said that the renaming of the stadium was beyond politics as Imran Khan was the biggest name in the country’s sporting history.

Arbab Niaz Stadium is a historic sports venue. It was originally named after the late Arbab Niaz, a former mayor of Peshawar and a federal minister.
