DUBAI: (Web Desk) India has clinched the ICC Champions Trophy title for record third time after beating New Zealand by four wickets in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

New Zealand set 252–run target for India to win in the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy final contest. While chasing 252, Indian team reached the target in the 49th over, with captain Rohit Sharma’s commanding 76 and Shreyas Iyer’s crucial 48.

New Zealand won the toss, and elected to bat first against India in the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy final match. New Zealand scored 251 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell was the top scorer with 63 runs.

New Zealand opened the batting with Will Young and Rachin Ravindra. However, Will Young could not stay at the crease for long and was dismissed LBW for 15 runs when the team total was 57. The second wicket loss for the Black Caps came in the form of Rachin Ravindra, who scored 27 runs off 29 balls before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.

The new batsman, Kane Williamson was caught by Kuldeep Yadav for just 11 runs. Tom Latham made 14 runs off 30 balls before being dismissed. Glenn Phillips scored 34 runs, and captain Mitchell Santner made 8 runs before being run out. Michael Bracewell remained not out at 53 runs.

For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami picked up 1 wicket each.

Both teams are determined to claim the prestigious title, with this being their first final encounter in 25 years.

Previously, New Zealand hammered India in the 2000 Champions Trophy final. In 2002, India and Sri Lanka were named joint winners, while India clinched the title in 2013 by beating England. However, in 2017, India faced a heavy 180-run loss to Pakistan.

On the New Zealand side, batsman Will Young mentioned that his team would use the insights gained from the group stage and approach India s bowlers with greater caution. Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner acknowledged India s advantage of having played all their matches in Dubai but remained confident in his team s ability to perform well and secure the win.
