DUBAI: (Web Desk) New Zealand have restricted India to 249-9 in the 12th and final group match of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first against India. The Indian opening batters faced a hiccup as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli were dismissed by New Zealand. Later, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel attempted to rebound the India’s innings.

Iyer made 79 runs off 98 ball. Patel scored 42 on 61deliveries. Hardik Pandya smashed run-a-ball 45, scoring four boundaries and two sixes.

For New Zealand, Matt Henry claimed five wickets. Kyle Jamieson, Will O’Rourke, Mitchell Santner, and Rachin Ravindra  took one wicket each.

Though the match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium is a dead-rubber, as both teams have already qualified for the semifinals, it remains significant as it will determine the Group A topper.

India and New Zealand have faced each other in 118 ODI matches, with India winning 60 and New Zealand 50. Seven matches ended without a result, and one was a tie. In ICC Champions Trophy history, the two teams have met once, with New Zealand emerging victorious.
