Afghanistan beat Pakistan in Tri-Nation T20, but green shirts stay on top

(Web Desk): In the fourth match of the ongoing Tri-Nation T20 series, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan by 18 runs in Sharjah.

Batting first after winning the toss, Afghanistan posted 169 for 5 in 20 overs. Ibrahim Zadran played a brilliant knock of 65 runs, while Sadiqullah added 64 runs. For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf impressed with 4 wickets, while Saim Ayub bowled economically, taking 1 wicket for just 18 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing 170, Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled and managed only 151 for 9. Haris Rauf top-scored with 34 runs, followed by Fakhar Zaman (25), Salman Agha (20), and Sahibzada Farhan (18). Afghanistan’s bowling attack stood out, with Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Noor Ahmad each taking two wickets.

Earlier in the series, Pakistan had defeated Afghanistan by 39 runs in the opening match.

Despite this setback, Pakistan remain at the top of the points table with 4 points, winning 2 out of 3 matches. Afghanistan also have 4 points from two wins in three matches, but trail in net run rate, placing them second.

Host nation UAE are yet to secure a victory and sit at the bottom of the table with two losses.
