Ali Zia

The year 2024 began with sad news when former first-class cricketer Ali Zia passed away on January 20 at the age of 66. Ali Zia represented Pakistan in 165 first-class matches, where he scored 8,579 runs and took 241 wickets. He also served as the manager of Pakistan s Under-19 team. Zia will always be remembered for his role in the sport.

Saeed Ahmad

Former captain of Pakistan, Saeed Ahmad, bid farewell to the world on March 20 at the age of 86. Saeed Ahmad represented the National team from 1958 to 1973, played 41 Test matches, and captained the team in three of them. He scored 2,991 runs and took 22 wickets in his Test career. His leadership qualities and excellent performance on the field made him a prominent figure.

Sajjad Akbar

On May 21, former Pakistani cricketer Sajjad Akbar passed away at the age of 66. Sajjad Akbar played two international matches and participated in 182 first-class matches during his career. He also performed coaching duties in domestic cricket and trained young players as a level four coach.

Khalid Ibadullah

Former all-rounder of the national cricket team, Khalid Ibadullah, passed away on July 14 at the age of 88. He made history in 1964 by scoring a brilliant 166 runs on his Test debut against Australia, becoming the first Pakistani player to score a century on his debut. Nazeer Junior

On November 21, former Test cricketer and umpire Nazeer Junior passed away. He was Pakistan s first spinner to take the most wickets (7) in the first innings of a debut Test.

He officiated in 15 One day Internationals and 5 Test matches as an umpire. Nazir Junior spent his final years dealing with health issues, but his contributions will never be forgotten.
