Social media platforms ‘blocked’ in Pakistan
LAHORE: (Web Desk) Once again, social media platforms including YouTube, X, Facebook, and Instagram have been blocked in Pakistan.
Users are facing difficulties in accessing connections and information on the social media platforms that have been blocked in various cities of the country. So far, no information has been provided by any authority regarding the blocking of social media platforms.
Two weeks ago, authorities disrupted internet connectivity and blocked access to social media platforms across the country PTI had virtually launched its manifesto and fundraising campaign ahead of general elections.
“Confirmed: Live metrics show a nation-scale disruption to social media platforms across #Pakistan, including X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube; the incident comes as persecuted former PM Imran Khan’s party, PTI, launches its election fundraising telethon,” UK-based watchdog NetBlocks said on X.
“The incident is consistent with previous social media filtering events which have all been imposed during opposition party rallies or speeches by opposition leader Imran Khan,” it further stated.
But this time, there is no information about the disruption of social media platforms in the country.
