SHC orders removal of political banners from public places

KARACHI (Web Desk) The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the authorities concerned to remove all the political banners and billboards from public places in Karachi.

The court expressed its anger on the issue and said that if the authorities could not perform their duties, they should close the cantonments.

The court was hearing a petition related to a ban on the billboards and hoardings in public places.

During the hearing, the court asked the lawyers representing the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Cantonment not to turn the city into a jungle. The court remarked that if the authorities remained failed to discharge their responsibilities, they should close down the KMC and the cantonment.

The SHC judge ordered the authorities to remove all political banners, pictures of political leaders from hoardings, flyovers and pedestrian bridges, and sought a report in this respect on January 31.
