Sanam Javed granted post-arrest bail
LAHORE: (Suno News) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has accepted the post-arrest bail plea of Sanam Javed in the case of setting fire to the office of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Model Town area of Lahore on May 9, 2023.
ATC Judge Arshad Javed heard the bail plea of Sanam Javed in the case of setting the PML-N office on fire. The court pronounced the reserved verdict after the arguments of the lawyers were completed.
It should be noted here that nationwide protests broke out after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9. The protests were held by the PTI workers and supporters.
In Lahore’s Model Town area, on May 9, apart from setting fire to the PML-N office, several military, civil, and private facilities were set on fire.
Public and private properties were severely damaged while at least eight people died and 290 were injured.
The protesters also stormed the Corps Commander’s House in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke down a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Subsequently, 1,900 people involved in vandalism and arson were arrested across the country, and cases were also registered against Imran Khan and his party workers.
