PTI files review petition in SC to take back “Bat” symbol
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court to take back its election symbol “Bat”.
The petition was filed by senior PTI lawyers Hamid Khan and Ali Zafar in which the election commission and others were made parties.
The petition requested the Supreme Court to return its election symbol “Bat”. It argued that the Supreme Court had not properly examined the facts related to the intra-party elections.
“Withdrawal of election symbols from any political party is a violation of the fundamental rights of voters. The right to form a political party and participate in elections is enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan,” it stated.
The PTI petition also requested the apex court to withdraw its January 12 verdict and annul the election commission’s decision to take back the election symbol “Bat” from PTI.
It also requested the apex court to restore the judgement of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to return the election symbol “Bat” to PTI.
