The Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department has announced the introduction of an emission test fee for all vehicles, effective November 10. The move aims to control rising air pollution levels and ensure cleaner emissions across the province.

According to the official notification, the new Punjab emission test fee will apply to vehicles based on their engine capacity. The charges are fixed as follows:

Up to 1,000cc: Rs. 500

1,001cc to 1,500cc: Rs. 800

1,501cc to 2,500cc: Rs. 1,000

2,501cc to 4,500cc: Rs. 1,500

Above 4,500cc: Rs. 2,000

The department stated that all payments must be made online through the e-Pay system, ensuring a smooth and transparent process. Once the payment is completed, users will receive a confirmation message on their registered mobile number.

The new system is designed to make emission testing more organized, reducing manual paperwork and delays. By introducing this emission test fee, the Punjab government seeks to promote environmental responsibility among vehicle owners and minimize harmful smoke emissions that contribute to smog and air pollution.

Certain categories of vehicles may be exempted from the test under specific conditions, as notified by the department. The initiative marks a significant step toward cleaner air and better compliance with environmental standards in Punjab.
