Met office predicts hot and dry weather during Ramzan
(Web Desk): Pakistan’s Met Office forecasts a hot, dry first ten days of Ramzan, with temperatures rising nationwide, while rain is expected in some regions before Ramzan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted hot and dry weather during the first ten days (Ashra) of Ramzan across most parts of the country.

Speaking to media, PMD Deputy Director Irfan Virk said there is little to no chance of rainfall during the first Ashra of Ramzan, adding that daytime temperatures will remain above seasonal averages in many regions.

Temperature Outlook Across Major Regions

According to PMD:

  • Islamabad temperatures are expected to remain below 30°C
  • Sindh and southern Punjab may see temperatures rise up to 35°C
  • Overall conditions will stay dry, warm, and humid, especially during daytime fasting hours

Rain Forecast Before Ramzan Begins

In contrast, rainfall is expected in several areas before the start of Ramzan due to an incoming weather system.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rain with thunderstorms in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting tonight, with wet conditions likely to continue until Tuesday

Areas Likely to Receive Rain and Hail

According to official advisories:

  • Kurram, Bannu, North and South Waziristan may receive rain
  • Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan are also expected to see showers
  • Dera Ismail Khan may experience hailstorms along with rain

Western and Southern Pakistan on Alert

PMD earlier warned that a weather system is expected to enter western Pakistan on February 16, bringing rain and thunderstorms to:

  • Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin and nearby areas on February 16–17
  • Karachi, Gwadar, Pasni, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Sukkur on February 17, accompanied by strong winds and thunder

What This Means for Ramzan Preparations

While pre-Ramzan rains may bring temporary relief, the dry and hot conditions during Ramzan’s first Ashra could make fasting more challenging, particularly in Sindh and southern Punjab. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated during non-fasting hours and take precautions against heat exposure.
