The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across Pakistan over the next 24 hours and in the coming days, raising concerns over flash floods, landslides, and infrastructure damage.
According to the latest advisory, Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive widespread rainfall with strong winds and thunderstorms, while Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may experience isolated heavy rain, hailstorms, and gusty winds, especially during evening and night hours.
Flash Flood and Landslide Risks in Multiple Regions
The PMD has warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding in northeastern districts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Musakhel, and Dera Bugti, along with hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan and local streams in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
There is also a significant landslide risk in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir due to continuous rainfall and unstable terrain.
Additionally, flooding in streams and seasonal nullahs is expected in Khuzdar, Awaran, Kharan, Kalat, Mastung, Kohlu, Lasbela, Qilla Saifullah, Qilla Abdullah, and Sherani.
