According to the National Highway and Motorway Police, Motorway M-3 from Jaranwala to Rajana, M-4 from Khanewal to Multan, and M-5 from Multan to Rohri were closed after visibility dropped to dangerously low levels. The closures were imposed as a safety measure amid near-zero visibility conditions during early morning hours.
Dense fog has also severely affected National Highway traffic in several cities, including Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan, Basti Malook, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Ahmedpur Sharqia, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad. Reduced visibility in these areas has slowed traffic flow and increased the risk of collisions.
Motorway Police officials warned that speeding and lane violations during foggy weather significantly raise the chances of serious and fatal accidents. Commuters have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially late at night and in the early morning when fog intensity is at its peak.

Authorities stated that the safest time for travel during fog is between 10am and 6pm, when visibility usually improves. Drivers who must travel have been urged to strictly follow lane discipline, reduce speed, use fog lights, and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead.
Motorists were also encouraged to use alternative routes such as the GT Road where possible and to remain alert, as fog conditions can worsen suddenly. The Motorway Police said they are continuously monitoring weather conditions and will reopen closed sections once visibility improves.
Citizens have been advised to stay updated through official advisories and contact the Motorway Police helpline 130 for real-time traffic updates, route guidance, or emergency assistance.
