A bus overturned near Jamal Din Wali Airport in Punjab’s city of Sadiqabad due to dense fog, killing three people and injuring at least fifteen others, officials said on Tuesday.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after the accident. The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where medical treatment is ongoing. Initial reports suggest that poor visibility caused by heavy fog led to the accident.
Meanwhile, daily life has been badly affected in several parts of Punjab due to persistent fog. As a safety measure, the Motorway Police have closed multiple motorways for all kinds of traffic to prevent further accidents.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the M-3 motorway from Darkhana to Rajana has been closed. The M-4 motorway from Khanewal to Multan and from Shorkot to Abdul Hakeem is also shut. In addition, the M-5 motorway from Multan to Rohri has been closed due to dangerously low visibility.
The spokesperson said the closures aim to protect lives and property, as speeding and lane violations during fog can lead to serious accidents. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions.
Motorway Police further advised that if travel is unavoidable, people should prefer daytime hours. According to officials, traveling between 10 am and 6 pm is relatively safer during fog.
