The Punjab government has completed budget preparations, and officials say any increase in Punjab government salaries will be announced in line with the federal government's pay raise decision.
Sources revealed that the proposal for salary increase Punjab employees are expecting is now part of the upcoming budget planning. Final approval will depend on the federal budget expected later this week.
Massive Funds Proposed for Salaries and Pensions
According to budget estimates, around Rs650,000,000,000 has been proposed for Punjab government employees salary expenditures in the next fiscal year.
In addition, Rs505,800,000,000 has been earmarked for pensions, ensuring financial support for retired government workers across the province.
Officials also expect Punjab’s tax revenue to reach Rs1,330,000,000,000 during the upcoming fiscal year.
Development and Welfare Spending Expanded
The proposed Punjab budget 2026-27 includes Rs800,000,000,000 for the Punjab Finance Commission to support local governments and development activities.
A further Rs25,000,000,000 has been recommended for social protection programs, while Rs150,000,000,000 is planned for the “Suthra Punjab” initiative.
These allocations are intended to improve public services and provide support to vulnerable communities throughout the province.

Major Development Projects Included
Under the proposed Punjab budget 2026-27, operational expenditures are estimated at Rs580,200,000,000.
The government has also suggested Rs221,900,000,000 for investment-related programs, Rs54,000,000,000 for foreign-assisted projects, and Rs570,000,000,000 for development and capital expenditures.
Officials say these investments are aimed at strengthening infrastructure, public services, and economic growth.
Total Budget to Cross Rs3.5 Trillion
Budget documents indicate that Punjab’s total expenditures could reach Rs3,569,600,000,000.
