The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed deputy commissioners across Karachi to immediately fill vacant government jobs reserved for persons with disabilities.
The court heard a petition highlighting that the disability quota is not being properly implemented in different districts of the city. During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the bench that more than 3,000 positions in various government departments are still vacant.

According to the petition, many qualified persons with disabilities are being unfairly denied job opportunities despite meeting all requirements. It also stressed that the law clearly requires a five percent quota in government jobs for persons with disabilities.
After listening to the arguments, the court issued strict orders to deputy commissioners to ensure all these vacancies are filled within two months. The court emphasized that the quota must be implemented in letter and spirit.

Later, a two-member constitutional bench disposed of the petitions after giving these clear instructions, raising hopes for thousands of deserving candidates.
