The Government of Pakistan has officially launched the Prime Minister’s Electric Bike & Rickshaw Scheme 2026 under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Programme, a large-scale initiative aimed at promoting sustainable transport and reducing urban pollution.
With a total allocation of Rs 100 billion, the government plans to accelerate the adoption of electric two- and three-wheelers across the country, helping citizens shift away from fuel-powered vehicles.
116,000 Electric Vehicles to Be Subsidized
Under the PM Electric Vehicle (EV) Scheme:
- 116,000 electric motorcycles will be provided with a subsidy of Rs 80,000 per bike
- Electric rickshaws will receive a Rs 400,000 subsidy
- 76,000 bikes are scheduled for distribution by June 2026
The subsidy aims to make electric transport affordable for students, workers, and small business operators who rely on daily commuting.
25% Quota Reserved for Women
In a significant move to promote gender inclusion, the scheme reserves 25% of electric bikes for female applicants, encouraging women’s mobility and financial independence.
Officials say the initiative not only supports green energy goals but also strengthens women’s participation in Pakistan’s transport and workforce sectors.

Boost for Green Mobility and EV Industry
