Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has announced a short-term subsidy package aimed at reducing the pressure of rising fuel prices on daily commuters, transport operators and small farmers.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb shared details of the package and said the government understands that higher fuel prices can affect millions of citizens. He said the subsidy program will run for three months and will focus on groups most affected by the increase in petrol and diesel prices.

Under the plan, motorcycle riders will receive a subsidy of Rs100 on up to 20 litres of petrol each month. The initiative is expected to benefit millions of people who rely on motorcycles for daily travel, especially workers and students who commute regularly.

The government has also announced relief for the transport sector. Intercity public transport services will receive a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on diesel in order to keep passenger fares stable and avoid sudden increases for travelers.

Freight vehicles that transport goods across the country will also receive the same Rs100 per litre subsidy on diesel.

According to the finance minister, large transport vehicles will receive a monthly subsidy of Rs80,000 to offset rising operational expenses. Truck operators will be provided Rs70,000 per month to help them manage higher diesel costs and maintain freight operations across the country.

Passenger buses will receive Rs100,000 per month as financial support so that transport companies can avoid increasing ticket prices for the public.

In addition to the transport sector, the government has announced support for agriculture. Small farmers will receive a one-time subsidy of Rs1,500 per acre to help them manage rising fuel and agricultural input costs.

Officials say the relief package is intended to provide temporary support until global energy prices stabilize. The government believes the targeted subsidies will protect vulnerable groups while maintaining economic activity.
