LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab introduces biometric system in all police stations to improve transparency, record attendance, and ensure proper verification of citizens and police staff.

Officials said that biometric verification will now be mandatory in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority, ensuring identity checks for both complainants and accused persons. Under this system, no complaint or case will be registered without biometric verification, making the process more secure and accountable.

Authorities have instructed that the biometric module must be integrated into the Police Station Record Management System to ensure smooth functioning of the new setup. All police stations have been directed to install biometric devices within seven days, and officers have been asked to inspect the availability of equipment without delay.

The system will also record the attendance of police personnel through biometric machines, helping improve discipline and monitoring within stations. Officials believe this step will reduce errors, prevent misuse of identity, and increase trust between citizens and law enforcement.

The Inspector General of Punjab has directed authorities to submit a compliance report within seven days to confirm that the system has been fully implemented across the province. This move is part of broader efforts to modernize policing and introduce digital solutions into everyday administrative work in police stations.
