The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has abolished the mandatory bank account condition for receiving Rs12500 under the Ramazan Package 2026, introducing a simplified registration process.
Earlier, the provincial government had announced financial assistance of Rs12500 for deserving families but required beneficiaries to possess a bank account. The decision faced widespread criticism from citizens and local representatives, who termed the condition unrealistic, especially for residents of remote and underdeveloped areas.
Many low-income families in rural regions lack access to banking facilities and are unfamiliar with complex banking procedures. As a result, thousands risked being excluded from the relief program.
Following public backlash, the government has now officially withdrawn the bank account requirement through a formal notification. Under the revised mechanism, eligible beneficiaries will be registered using their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and mobile phone number instead of a bank account.

Officials claim that the new method will expand access to financial aid, ensuring that more deserving families benefit from the Ramazan relief initiative. They added that the updated system is designed to enhance transparency, speed up disbursement, and minimize procedural hurdles.
Authorities believe the move will particularly benefit families in far-flung districts who were previously unable to meet the banking condition. The government has urged eligible citizens to complete their registration under the new guidelines to receive timely financial assistance during Ramazan.
