(Web Desk): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) faces a severe shortfall as regional tensions disrupt LNG supply, affecting households and industries.

The ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States has intensified the global energy crisis. Experts say supply disruptions in the region are directly impacting Pakistan’s gas imports.

Sui Northern Gas Company imports around 1,700 to 1,800 million cubic feet of LNG, but deliveries have been affected. The current shortfall has now exceeded 700 million cubic feet, putting pressure on the system.

Sui Northern plans to maintain gas supply during breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours. Full-pressure gas will only be available during these times.

Outside meal hours, residents may face gas outages or low-pressure supply. This policy aims to prioritize industrial activity while limiting gas for domestic use.

To keep industries running, Sui Northern is enforcing gas supply only during peak cooking times for households. Many domestic users will experience interruptions, while factories may still get limited supply.

Currently, imports have dropped to 1,000 to 1,100 million cubic feet due to regional instability. Analysts warn that LNG supply could fall further next week because of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Sui Northern has also limited new RLNG connections in response to the ongoing shortfall. Officials say gas load shedding may increase if the shortage continues, affecting more households and industrial sectors.
