Islamabad :(Report, Sumaira Raja) According to the report, the PMC organized the MDCAT in 2020 through the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), where 125,885 students applied for the test. Out of these, 121,181 students appeared, and 67,611 were declared successful.
The report highlights discrepancies from the December 15, 2020, exam, where 4,704 students were falsely marked as absent, while 668 students were marked as passed despite not appearing for the test.
Additionally, scores of 125 students from the 2020 MDCAT were altered, increasing their marks from 112 to 132.
In another instance, on August 30, 2021, a computer-based MDCAT was conducted. Fifty-one students, who initially failed with 136 marks, had their results altered after re-evaluation, leading to higher scores.
The report also reveals that after the 2021 MDCAT results, the names of 237 students were changed, with seven students’ names being entirely altered, such as Laiba Batool becoming Maiza Sameen and Amjad Hussain being changed to Maryam Amjad.
In addition to the exam irregularities, the report also uncovers procurement-related misconduct during 2020-2021, where illegal purchases and misuse of funds led to financial irregularities amounting to PKR 1.92 billion.
