Financially distressed man kills six family members before suicide in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: (Suno News) In a tragic incident, a financially distressed man who was reportedly fed up with his domestic situation allegedly killed his two wives and four children before committing suicide in Gulshan-e-Madina area of Faisalabad on Friday.

According to police officials, the man identified as Kazim Jawad first killed his wives Ambreen (45), Fiza (30), daughters Yumna (22), Arooj (19), Roma (8) and son Mosa (6) and shot himself afterwards.

Upon receiving reports of the grave incident, top police officials, including SSP Operation Hassan Javed Bhatti, SP Madina Town Shah Amir and DSP Nashta Abad Ghazi Rana Umar Draz rushed to the scene.

They cordoned off the area and began gathering evidence with the help of forensic experts. Sheikh Kazim Jawad, aged 55, in distress due to domestic and financial issues, committed the gruesome act.

Police officials said that Kazim was a worker in Sutar Mandi, and was under a lot of financial stress.

“The medical board at the Forensic Department has handed over the bodies to the legal heirs after performing the postpartum,” the police added.

The postpartum report revealed that all the victims were administered intoxicating substance before the bloodbath, the officials said. However, they added, samples will be sent to Lahore for further investigation.

Last month, a poverty-stricken man killed his wife and seven children in Alipur Tehsil of Muzaffargarh District. The victims were identified as 40-year-old Kausar, 8-year-old Ansa, 7-year-old Kanza, 5-year-old Ramsha, 4-year-old Shehnaz, 3-year-old Anas, 2-year-old Subhan and 4-month-old Manza.

In a separate incident previously, a man named Azhar attempted suicide after poisoning his wife and children in Karachi’s Sujrani Town Sector-10.

The neighbors said the family was living in a rented house and Azhar would work in a factory but lost his job.

Also in December 2023, a financially distressed man took the lives of his wife and three daughters before ending his own life by consuming poisonous pills.

The incident occurred in Chak 271, RB, within the precincts of the Dijkot police station.

Mohammad Tahir, 55 administered a drug-laced meal to his 45-year-old wife Naheed Akhtar and daughters Zehra Fatima (12), Hiba Tahir (17) and Raisa Tahir (19) after which they become unconscious.

The medicine worker  left behind a will which cited his incapacitation to provide for his family because of financial struggles and debts.

Her distress pushed him to make the agonising decision to end the lives of his wife and daughters and committing suicide.

He emphasised that no one else was involved in the tragic decision. In the will, he acknowledged the significant burden he was leaving for his brothers and sisters.

In his will, he advised the sale of his house and specified individual amounts for his brothers to settle the debts.

In September 2021, a man threw his three minor sons into a deep well and committed suicide in the same manner in Chhachhro town of Sindh's Tharparkar district.

Due to an ongoing financial crisis, Nawal Meghwar (25) took the tragic step because he was mentally upset.

Local people pulled out the bodies from the well after hectic efforts, while police teams rushed to the village to probe the incident.

The suicide incidents are high in Thar, with an estimated five hundred people.
